Seven APAC communications organisations recently gathered in HK
to work on a new study to define part of the DNA of the
PR professional of the future. The aim is to encourage PR
professionals to give a higher priority to the evaluation of their
work through the development of new measurement standards.
John Croll, CEO of Media Monitors in Sydney and the Chair
of AMEC's new Asia-Pacific Chapter said: "We are trying to persuade
PR professionals to recognise the commercial importance of
communications measurement in everything they do. This is Asia's
opportunity through this research to set the standard for the rest
of the world."
Groups asking their members to take part in an online
questionnaire are: Council of PR Firms of Hong Kong; China
International Public Relations Association; Public Relations
Consultants Association of India; Public Relations Association of
Australia; Public Relations Institute of New Zealand; FIBEP; ICCO
and AMEC.
The study results were presented in a major debate at the
1st Asia Pacific Summit in Hong Kong to be held on
29th February/1st March. The aim of the
conference was to stimulate new thinking how public relations
performance is measured.
The study and the Hong Kong Summit were led AMEC, the International Association
for Measurement and Evaluation of Communications.
The Summit included workshop sessions and plenary speaking spots
by senior communications professionals from Hong Kong, Australia,
China, India, Singapore, UK and the US. Speakers include
senior managers from Facebook, PwC, Lenovo, Ford Motor Company and
Health Promotion Board, Singapore.
